The “Summer Experience” for secondary students is a human-centered learning opportunity that will meet students where they are, with the purpose of re-engaging, igniting passion, and providing options for credit through hands-on, minds-on  interdisciplinary projects (English, History, Math, and Science). Students that demonstrate content area competency will have the opportunity to earn high school credit and make-up the "D"s or "F"s that were earned in courses required for a high school diploma.

Who should enroll in summer school?

  • Any student who has earned a D or F in a class that is needed for graduation or college.

What if I am earning an "F" or "D" now and think I will need summer school?

If you think there is a good chance you will receive a D or F in a class you are currently taking, you can complete the summer school class application now.

Are you a student athlete?

If you are a student athlete who plans to play sports in college, and are planning to do ONLINE summer school, please email your counselor so they know to put you in the correct NCAA/NAIA accepted course.  Also, confirm with your teacher on the first day of school that you are registered in the first-time Edgenuity course and not the remediation version. NCAA/NAIA do not accept the remediated version.

Courses offered for remediation in SDUSD summer school 2021.

Summer school offers classes that are needed to meet the minimum a-e requirements needed for graduation.  The a-e required course subject areas are Social Studies, English, Math, Science, LOTE (Only Spanish & French).

VAPA, PE and College prep electives are not offered in summer school.

Advanced, Honors and AP Classes will be remediated by taking the regular college prep level course.  Therefore, the grade will get averaged into your GPA with the original grade, rather than grade replace.
